Israeli lawmakers condemn new military operation in the West Bank

“The heinous attacks do not make the occupation any less criminal and, in any case, do not make the occupation forces’ invasion of Jenin today any more legitimate,” MP Ofer Cassif wrote on his Twitter account.

Soldiers entered that town this morning to arrest a suspect involved in the deadly attack two days ago in the city of Bnei Brak that caused six deaths, including the assailant.

It is necessary to stop the occupation. Stop killing! Said the politician, a member of the Joint List, a small left-wing Arab coalition with six seats in the Knesset (Parliament).

Legislator Ahmed Tibi, whose party is part of that alliance, also condemned the offensive by the Tel Aviv troops and described the death of a 17-year-old boy as a heinous crime.

As a result of the operation in Jenin, a shootout broke out between the military and Palestinian militiamen, according to images from various Arab television stations.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that Sanad Abu Attia, 17, and Yazid Al-Saadi, 23, lost their lives, although the media reported a third death.

According to that portfolio, another 15 people were injured during the operation, 14 of them by fire bullets fired by the soldiers.

Another Palestinian was killed this Thursday near the city of Bethlehem after attacking a group of Israelis on a bus with a knife. At least four settlers were injured, one of them seriously. In parallel, Tel Aviv troops arrested 25 Palestinians in a raid that began this morning at various points in the West Bank, which included arrests in the governorates of Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus and Hebron, as well as in the city of Jerusalem.
