Israel government approves Netanyahu military plan to occupy Gaza

The Government Security Cabinet of Israel He gave the green light this morning to the military plan proposed by the prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, to occupy the city of Gaza, in the north of the enclave.

A statement released by the Government exposes Netanyahu’s plan to “defeat Hamas.” It includes occupying the city of Gaza, without clarifying what will happen to the rest of the enclave and despite the fact that the prime minister had declared his intention to extend the operation to the entire strip before starting the debate session with the cabinet.

“The Israeli Defense Forces (FDI) will prepare to take control of the city of Gaza and guarantee the provision of humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat areas,” concrete the statement, cited by EFE.

Five principles

The government ensures that, after about ten hours of meeting, they adopted “by majority of votes” five principles for the “end of the war.”

These principles are to disarm Hamas, the return of all hostages with or lifeless, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli control of security in the enclave and the establishment of an “alternative civil administration” that is neither of Hamas nor of the Palestinian authority, which currently governs in parts of the occupied West Bank.

In statements to the chain Fox Long before this meeting, Netanyahu said that her goal was to occupy all of Gaza, but that she does not intend to govern her, but to maintain a “security perimeter” and deliver it to “Arab forces that govern it” without threatening Israel and without Hamas.

According to the statement, an “alternative plan” was ruled out at the meeting, considering that it would not “achieve the defeat of Hamas or the return of the hostages.”

Hamas reaction

Hamas warned Israel to expand its offensive in Gaza means “sacrifice” the hostages that are still retained there and called their plan to occupy the city of Gaza and evacuate its residents as “a new war crime.”

In a statement released in their networks after the decision of the Israeli security cabinet, Hamas affirms that the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, already their government “does not care about the fate of their hostages.”

“The decision to occupy Gaza confirms that the criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi government do not care about the fate of their prisoners, and know that expanding the aggression means sacrificing them, which reveals a mentality of contempt for the life of prisoners to achieve failed political illusions,” he added.

What does the international community say?

For the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türkla, the decision of the Government of Israel “goes against the ruling of the International Court of Justice, as well as against the agreed solution of two states and against the right of the Palestinian people to self -determination.”

Netanyahu announces its intention to completely occupy the Gaza Strip

From London, the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, described the Israeli decision as “erroneous” and urged the Netanyahu government to “reconsider immediately” the measure approved this morning.

After the Israeli plan, the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, announced that Germany decided to stop “for the moment” the supply of weapons to Israel that can be used in the Palestinian enclave, according to the newspaper The country.
