“Isolated, with little food and no gasoline”: This is the critical situation after the collapse in San José del Palmar.

The Mayor’s Office and the community of the municipality of San José del Palmar, on the border with Valle del Cauca, call on the Governor’s Office of Chocó to provide solutions to the emergency that they are experiencing as a result of the collapse.

At this time, the municipality of San José del Palmar is in a critical situation after the damage to the only access road to the north of the Valley as a result of a landslide on Sunday March 12.

As the days go by, the situation has turned dark, they are incommunicado, the food shortages are beginning to be felt and it has not been possible for products such as gasoline and propane gas to reach the municipality.

Which can only arrive by land since they come from the municipality of Cartago, Valle del Cauca.

“The harvest is failing”

“We are about to have great losses in agricultural matters, since we are national producers of chontaduro, borojó and cocoa due to the fact that the crops are stagnant,” explained Yina Moreno Mosquera, mayor of San José del Palmar.

The president has already advanced several dialogues with the departmental authorities, waiting for at least a partial solution to be presented that will allow us to open the way.

He also stated that the investment to recover the road would cost about 30 billion pesos, resources that currently neither the Municipality nor the Government have.

It should be remembered that the landslide occurred at the height of the sector known as La Virgen at kilometer 11 that borders the North of Valle del Cauca.
