The International Caribbean Film and Environment Festival, Isla Verde, announced the opening of the call for its fourth edition, which will take place from April 5 to 11, 2026 on the Isle of Youth.
“We are looking for feature films and short films (fiction, documentary and animation) that explore the relationship between humans and nature,” says the event’s social media post.
The call has been open since last October 6 and its closing date will be January 6, 2026.
In addition to the feature film and short film categories, Isla Verde will repeat in the Films in Progress section, and will also present the Special Jury Prize.
Productions made between 2024 and 2025 of any nationality may compete, as long as they have environmental themes as their center. In the case of foreign works, they must meet the requirement of not having previous premieres in Cuba.
The materials received will be evaluated and the official selection will be announced on February 20, 2026.
In this way, the festival reaffirms its competitive nature, added to its usual program of conferences, workshops, concerts, trainings, exhibitions, thematic cycles and multiple cultural and community activities.
The Caribbean International Film and Environment Festival, Isla Verde, founded in 2022 by actor, director and 2024 National Film Award winner Jorge Perugorría It is organized by the Isla Verde Local Development Project, Four Wives, the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation of Nature and Man and Taller Gorría Gallery, and has become the largest cultural event that takes place on the Isle of Youth, and the only film event in the country with an environmental perspective.
