He International Film and Environment Festival of the Caribbean Green He concluded his third edition on Saturday night on the island of Youth.
Its closure was the center of the awards of its contest, which this time included three categories. It is the second year that Isla Verde has a competitive character, and now they were in competition 38 works, of the more than 100 presented.
In the feature film section the prize went to the Brazilian documentary The fall of heaven (A MA DO CÉU), While a special award to the Spanish film was awarded Black butterfliesGoya 2025 winning film for Best Animation Film and whose exhibition He opened the festival.
The short film category gave its prize to the Cuban work Coastal estate and a special prize, also Cuban, Metalmorphosis.
This year Isla Verde premiered the Cinema under construction category, designed to support development projects. On this first occasion his award went to the Argentine documentary The earth explodes, time endswhile the project The Taste Of HoneyFrom Bangladesh, he received a mention.
“We celebrated the stories that move us, the talents that inspire us and the deep connection between cinema, art and the environment,” said the organizers of the Festival on Facebook, in a publication in which they shared images of the awards gala.
In the jury of the different categories were important figures of Cuban cinema and art such as Leonardo Padura, Arturo Soto, Kiki Álvarez, Laura de la UZ and Vladimir Cruz.
They were also integrated by international artists such as the Spanish photographer Hector Garrido and the Italian Antonio Uratrata; as well as biologists and environmental scientists, whose role is fundamental in an event that is committed to cinematographic art with the welfare of the planet.
The festival closing day this Saturday included the planting of a thousand pines and 500 oaks, an initiative that the event develops since its first edition. Called El Pinar del Cine, it is a symbolic moment in the participate artists, guests and the festival’s own team.

For its Closing Isla Verde again took the historic imprisonment model of the island of Youth.
That was the scenario of the most important visual arts action of the event, the collective exhibition From the island to moon 2.0, in which more than 30 artists from Cuba, the Caribbean, Brazil and Europe participated.
The Expo “explored fundamental issues such as climate change, sustainable development, recycling, social inclusion and ethical and aesthetic relationship between human being and nature,” according to a note of the event in their networks.

In Prison Model himself, he closed the festival with a concert by the Andalusian singer Desmelenao and the Cuban Kelvis Ochoa, one of the most recognized artists out of the island of Youth, and that by the hand of Isla Verde returned home.
In its closure, Jorge Perugorría, creator and president of Isla Verde, considered that this third edition had been consolidated for the still young event.
