Sociologist and opponent Irving Larios has been detained for 480 days in the cells of the Judicial Assistance Directorate (DAJ), known as “El Nuevo Chipote”, a center where he is subjected to various tortures, according to reports from human rights organizations and relatives of political prisoners. On August 31, the dictatorship presented the political prisoner for the first time before its official media, who was transferred to the Managua courts. Given this situation, the relatives of Irving Larios pointed out that the Ortega-Murillo regime is trying to “destroy” the political prisoner “for defending social justice, freedom and democracy” in the country; and despite that, the opponent showed “dignity even with his hands handcuffed, that dignity that will move mountains to free you and all political prisoners.”
