Intendance will notify merchants for improper occupation of paths
The Departmental Intendance announced the beginning of a series of formal notifications to the shops that occupy paths, within the framework of a campaign to guarantee the free circulation of pedestrians.
“In the notification we will include the current regulations, which clearly establishes that the paths must be completely free for the comfortable use of pedestrians,” He indicated one of the hierarchs in charge of the operation, said Transit Manager of the Washington Barreto Municipality in dialogue with the professional.
The situation, as explained, has been discussed for more than a decade. “At least 10 years ago we come with Gerardo Ledesma (Chief of Inspectors), speaking of this issue. It cannot be that every day we find blocked paths. There is no place to pass with a wheelchair, a stroller, a baby or simply as older adults. It is inadmissible,” express.
From the commune they recognize that the irregular occupation has naturalized over time, which makes it difficult for the necessary cultural change. “It has deformed so much that today it is difficult to convince merchants to withdraw certain objects. As this was allowed for so long, now people believe they have the right to do so,” He warned.

Barreto warned that things when they leave, are growing in irregularity.

Now channeling that situation costs us, but we are going to do it,” concluded.
The authorities assured that the operation will begin with explanatory notifications, and that the main objective is not to sanction, but to raise awareness and recover the public space for the pedestrian.
