Irene Moreira to maninistas: “this did not end here”

The low vote of their party prevented them from entering the Senate, although they managed to obtain two seats in the Chamber of Deputies. In her message, Moreira explained her absence at Sunday’s event with Guido Manini Ríos, leader of the group, attributing it to a “pressure spike” that led her to remain at rest, disconnected from activities and social networks.

Addressing his followers as “dear Maninistas,” Moreira highlighted the strength and dedication of the Todos con Manini current, which he described as “the national group that voted the most” within the party, thanks to the efforts of its members. He recognized the work of those who were in the streets during the campaign and highlighted that, in some departments such as Colonia, they achieved a “very strong presence” despite not having a local reference.

Even in the face of the “bucket of cold water” that the results represented, the senator was optimistic, highlighting the success of her sector in obtaining the two seats in Deputies. He especially thanked the elected deputies, Silvana and Álvaro, to whom he sent “strong applause” and “a very special kiss.”

In her speech, the former housing minister also alluded to alleged attacks against her that had occurred during her tenure as housing minister. With this, Moreira alludes to the scandal that arose after he awarded a home to a political supporter, a fact that caused President Lacalle to ask him to resign, creating a wound within the government coalition that never fully healed.

In his message, Moreira also made a self-criticism about the challenges facing his party, suggesting that the poor electoral results “could serve to clean the house a little” and strengthen the unity of those who share Guido’s “artiguista ideology” and values. Manini Ríos. He concluded his message by encouraging his militants to redouble their efforts, reaffirming that “a stumble is not a fall” and calling to maintain energy and enthusiasm.
