Irene Espinosa has a degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from ITAM.
With more than three decades of experience in public finance, central banking and financial regulation, Espinosa was the first woman to join the Governing Board of Banco de México (2018–2024).
She previously served as Treasurer of the Federation for nine years, leading the modernization of the country’s financial management. At the international level, she was senior advisor to the Executive Director for Mexico and the Dominican Republic at the Inter-American Development Bank.
Santander highlighted Irene Espinosa’s experience in sustainable finance, after co-chairing the Sustainable Finance Committee and participating in the design of the Sustainable Taxonomy of Mexico.
As of the third quarter of the year, Santander México has assets of more than 2 billion pesos and more than 21 million clients.
