Iranian President: Venezuela is a perfect example of resistance to imperialism

The president of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, asserted this Saturday that Venezuela is a “perfect example” of resistance to imperial aggression.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been united with the countries that resist the aggressions of imperialism, and Venezuela has shown that it is a perfect example of that resistance,” he said from the Saab Abad Palace in Tehran, where he offered a joint statement with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, after signing new agreements.

The Iranian leader stressed that Caracas has overcome “the difficult damages, the aggressions and the difficulties caused by those aggressions during these years,” but indicated that he has received reports showing that “they have successfully been able to overcome these high inflations to reach the current point.

“That is a sign that shows us all that the resistance of the government and people of Venezuela, led by you, Mr. President, has triumphed against the aggression of the enemies,” he added.

Ebrahim Raisi recalled that for more than 40 years Iran has suffered “abundant” threats and sanctions, but has decided to “turn these threats into opportunities for its development.”

“When the White House spokesman acknowledges that maximum pressure against Iran has embarrassingly failed, that is the great triumph for the people and government of Iran,” he said.

Further develop cooperation with Venezuela

The Iranian president stressed that there is a “giant potential and capacity to further develop relations” with Venezuela, after highlighting the progress that has been made as a result of cooperation in economic, agricultural, military and energy defense, the latter with results in repair and upgrade of refineries and power plants.

He indicated that the new agreements prioritize the bilateral development of science and technology, where, he said, “great advances in this area” have been achieved in recent years.

“And we believe that there is every possibility of exchanging experiences in order to be able, with our Venezuelan brothers and through companies based on science and technology and technology parks, to further deepen relations in the areas of oil, gas, petrochemicals, agriculture, among others. others,” he stressed.

As a result of the new agreements, the Caracas-Tehran area route will open on July 18.

“In addition to increasing movements between Tehran and Caracas, it can help further promote economic and trade relations between the two countries and bring our peoples closer together,” he celebrated.

The new cooperation map also includes agriculture and energy.

Raisi indicated that he hopes that the head of state’s visit to Tehran will mark a “turning point in the friendly relations between Iran and Venezuela.”

Iran was the third stop on the Eurasian tour carried out by President Nicolás Maduro. He was previously in Turkey and Algeria, where it also signed cooperation agreements in several areas
