Iran rejects threats against Venezuela's sovereignty

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Abás Araqchi, held a video conference with the Iranian diplomatic staff in Venezuela

The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Abás Araqchi, held a videoconference with the members of the diplomatic mission of this country in Venezuela. At the meeting, he reiterated the support of the Persian nation for Caracas, especially in these moments of imperial threat.

Araqchi ratified Iran’s position of rejecting any threatening action against the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela and has expressed confidence that the Venezuelan people, maintaining unity and national cohesion, will defend the independence and national interests of their country against the illegal actions of the United States.

For his part, Ali Chegini, Iranian ambassador to Venezuela, presented a report on the measures adopted and the course to strengthen bilateral relations.

This Monday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmail Baqai, stated that the Iranian embassy in Venezuela is very active and the rumors about the departure of embassy personnel are part of a “psychological war”, like the one that the Persian country has faced in recent months. This is a repetitive pattern that is now also being used in the case of Venezuela, he warned.

Since last August, US military forces have been deployed in the Caribbean and the Pacific under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. US forces have carried out more than 30 military operations against small boats, killing more than 100 people.
