Iran and Cuba sign cooperation agreements in Havana

Raúl Castro received this Thursday the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, on an official visit to Cuba. The meeting occurred after the signing of various agreements between the two nations.

Castro, Army General, thanked the support of the government of Iran in Cuba’s fight against “the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States imposes on the Greater Antilles”.

He also stressed that both nations have known how to defend their independence and sovereignty.

The meeting occurred hours after Havana and Tehran signed cooperation agreements in the areas of foreign policy, telecommunications and legal.

The act for the signatures took place at the Palace of the Revolution, with the presence of the Iranian president and his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, after the visitor participated in a business forum in Havana.
