IPS minimizes ceiling drop on patients

The detachment of the plaster was registered in hospitalization room No. 636 of the surgery service of the IPS Central Hospital. In this regard, the entity clarified that it consists of an old plaster that fell off, the product of minimal vibrations derived from urgent work that was carried out on the upper floor for the authorization of the Coronary Unit.

“Also, it is worth mentioning that demolition work was not carried out (activity that causes the maximum vibrations), since the floor and other finishing works have been completed in that sector for a long time,” says the statement.

The IPS added that this event, a product “of a hidden vice” that manifested itself suddenly “could not be noticed” and preventative action could not be taken either since it presented a “normal and free of cracks” appearance.

Rigoberto Cabañas one of the patients confirmed to Universo 970 radio that part of the roof of the sixth floor of the IPS Central came off and fell on them this afternoon.

Several patients who were in the room, apart from the great scare they received, suffered injuries when part of the plaster fell. At first it was believed that the event was more serious, fortunately the case did not go beyond being a great scare.
