IPS head reaffirms that there was no malpractice in the case of an amputated patient

The president of the IPS, Vicente Bataglia, defended himself against the accusations of alleged irregularities in the hiring of personnel. As he revealed, more than 10,000 officials were hired during the pandemic.

The Chamber of Deputies is holding an extraordinary session this Tuesday to challenge the head of the Social Security Institute (IPS).

When asked about the allegations of alleged irregularities in the process of hiring and appointing white personnel, Vicente Bataglia defended himself by assuring that job vacancy contests were promoted, resulting in the appointment of 404 officials.

In this case, 1,380 applicants were registered but there were only 210 vacant salary categories, which is why many were unable to access this benefit, he mentioned.

Bataglia pointed out that no new budget salary categories have been created since 2015 to expand the available positions, meaning that many of the applicants, despite achieving the minimum required score, cannot access the desired deprecariousness.

“The selection process is done in a transparent manner,” assured the president of the pension during his questioning in the Lower House.

In another order of things, he mentioned that on June 30 the contracts for the provision of services by IPS personnel expired. Since June 16, area heads, directors, managers and human talent assistants have already been informed about the possibility of the online module to request contract renewal.

This is how a total of 604 people were dismissed, out of the 11,302 who had a current contract with IPS. According to Bataglia, after the demonstrations by some officials, requests for reconsideration were received.

Once the cases of reconsideration had been analyzed, it was decided to give continuity to 310 people whose justifications are in accordance with current regulations, ultimately leaving a total of 294 people without an employment relationship.

When asked about the hiring of personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the IPS president confirmed that a total of 5,953 health workers were hired to respond to the demand for care in the different hospitals and peripheral clinics. This includes more than 1,440 doctors, 2,754 nurses, pharmacists, biochemists, nutritionists, radiologists, among others.

The active target staff appointed during the pandemic between 2020 and 2021 was 424. On the other hand, the support and administrative staff hired was 1,673.

White staff went from 2,910 before the pandemic to 2,418 more in 2020, 3,019 in 2021 and 516 in 2022, which makes a general total of 8,863 officials as part of the IPS.

If support, auxiliary, administrative and target personnel are added to this, the total number of contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic amounts to 10,959, according to what Bataglia stated.
