Beijing, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is holding several meetings in China today in the context of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, which will open this week with almost three thousand athletes.
The executive board of that body analyzes behind closed doors the final preparations for the event, the experiences of the athletes since their arrival in this capital and the mechanisms designed to guarantee doping-free competitions, among other issues.
Starting tomorrow, the IOC will hold its 139th session and the president of the entity, Thomas Bach, will present work reports; the Organizing Committee of Beijing-2022 and other leaders linked to the event.
That meeting will also review the final report on the Tokyo-2020 Olympics, will be on pause from February 4 to 18, and then will resume the debates on the 19th for the renewal of the members of the international organization.
The IOC is so far satisfied with the organization of the Chinese event, Bach yesterday described it as excellent and highlighted the sustainability approach.
“2008 marked the appearance of China on the world stage. But now China has become an established partner on this world stage in all aspects, culture, business, politics and also in sports. It is a different country », she limited.
Beijing-2022 will be officially opened on Friday and will make this city the only one on the planet to host both variants of the event under the five rings, after hosting the summer version of 2008.
The Olympic chapter will take place from February 4 to 20, while the Paralympic will be from March 4 to 13.
Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg and Prince Albert II of Monaco have already arrived in the Asian giant to attend the gala, in which 31 other rulers, members of royalty and leaders of international organizations will participate.
President Xi Jinping will entertain them with a welcome banquet and will also hold bilateral meetings with them. Some of those dignitaries will also develop official agendas.
