The hallmark of the house of the 4T is to improvise, not to observe science, to promise what cannot be done, and to act only with symbols. We are in a non-isolated example, since this same clumsiness and superficiality is what characterized, for example, the design, execution and operation of Line 12 of the CDMX Metro, and the results are visible with dozens of deaths. But an accident in air facilities in CDMX and surrounding areas could generate a tragedy for thousands of people.
We must shout loudly these risks because it is not possible to think that accidents should occur. It should not have happened on Line 12 of the Metro, but the then Head of Government chose to build and inaugurate as it took place to cut the ribbon. The safety and life of the users did not matter. And that same logic is the one that prevails today in the rush to build and operate the AIFA, now being the whim of another person and of much greater dimensions due to the scope of an undesirable event.
Since we are warning about possible risks, it should be noted that the Laguna Verde nuclear plant has already had at least a couple of alarm events due to failures in the operation of the reactor. I do not have to explain the adverse consequences of a radioactive spill, but sadly that possibility is greater today than ever as a result of improvisation and not investing in prevention and maintenance.
Thus the things, today, in the country; the risks are real and tangible. Silence or remain silent in the face of conclusive scientific evidence would make us accomplices of tragedies that can and should be avoided and prevented. Enough of tolerating the country being run by the President without sophistication. Their malpractice and abuse have already cost many lives in terms of insecurity, violence and health problems. Silence, particularly of those who know, makes them accomplices. How many more victims before we really realize the tragedy in sight?
