The National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (Invima) issued an urgent health alert for the Ritual Balancing Shampoo Fat Control product, after detecting that several batches exceed the permitted limits of microorganisms. The entity ordered the voluntary withdrawal from the market of the affected batches and asked consumers to suspend their use immediately.

According to Invima, the product, identified with Health Registry NSOC26990-23CO, is manufactured by Instincts Humains SAS and marketed by Ritual Botánico SAS. The tests carried out revealed that some units had a “non-conformity in the count of microorganisms”, which represents a possible risk to the health of users.

The entity explained that the presence of microorganisms above the established limits can cause skin infections, irritations or adverse reactions, especially in people with sensitive skin or previous injuries. Therefore, those who possess the product are recommended to refrain from using it and report any unusual reaction to the pharmacovigilance system.
Likewise, Invima asked the distribution establishments and points of sale to collaborate with the immediate withdrawal of the indicated lots. The health authority will monitor the process and recalled that cosmetic products must comply with strict microbiological quality controls to guarantee consumer safety.
The company Ritual Botánico SAS expressed its willingness to collaborate with the authorities and announced the internal review of its manufacturing, quality control and distribution processes, in order to clarify the causes of the incident and prevent it from occurring again.
Finally, Invima reiterated the importance of only purchasing cosmetic products that have a current health registration and from reliable sources. The complete alert, with the specific lots compromised, was published on the entity’s official portal and remains under permanent monitoring.
