Invima alerts illegal sale of expired food products

The National Institute of Surveillance and Food (Invite), through a statement, warned that the Health Registerwhich indicate the packaging and labels, of the Powers’x and Megas’x food products are expired.

(Invima withdrew Abbott’s baby milk formula from the market).

“Invima informs the public about the fraudulent marketing of the products “POWERS’X and MEGAS’X”, which indicate on their packaging and labels a sanitary registration number that has expired to date and therefore, their sale in Colombia is illegal,” the entity said in the statement.

(Invima warns about products for the management of joint pain).

“These are fraudulent products that, as they are not covered by a sanitary registry, do not offer guarantees against compliance with quality, safety and efficacy criteria. Additionally, their real content, traceability, storage and transport conditions are unknown.“, he added.

For this reason, Inivima asks citizens not only refrain from purchasing these supplements, “since they may contain ingredients that put health at risk”, but also “bear in mind that many of these products are marketed on Internet sites, social networks and WhatsApp channels”.
