New York.- Within the framework of the Dominican Week 2025, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR), the Superintendent of the Securities Market, Ernesto Bournigal Read highlighted the solid performance of the Dominican capital market, underlining its growth, stability and investment potential.

In his opening words to the panel “Perspectives of financial markets and opportunities for investors in RD”, The official highlighted the growth trajectory that the national economy maintains, with a real -raw domestic product (GDP) projection of 3.5% for this year.“ Beyond the figures, which truly distinguishes our country is its stability, reflected in key indicators such as sovereign risk, the perception of corruption and the quality of governance ”.

He added “the Dominican stock market reached in 2024 a registered volume of USD 240 billion, equivalent to 193% of GDP; the amount in custody reached the USD 48.37 billion at the end of August 2025, currently 4.7% of the amount in custody corresponds to foreign investors. This sustained growth is a clear sign of The Dominican stock market is no longer a promise: it is a reality that drives the country’s economic development. ”

In that sense, Bournigal Read highlighted the transforming role of the Dominican stock market in the country’s economic development, especially through investment funds, which have financed dozens of projects in strategic areas such as energy, tourism and infrastructure, generating employment and promoting sustainable development.

“Since 2015, USD 80 billion has been raised through the stock market. The closed investment funds have channeled USD 4,322.97 million, financing more than 140 projects in key sectors and generating more than 40 thousand jobs in 2024,” he explained.

The Superintendent spoke about the democratization of access to the market, noting that this is reflected in the growth of brokerage accounts, which already exceed 171 thousand, and in the strengthening of financial education through the Proinversionist Hub. He also mentioned the implementation of regulatory reforms aligned with international standards, such as IOSCO (International Securities Commissions Organization), IFRS (International Financial Information Standards) and GAFI (International Financial Action Group).

In another order, he reaffirmed the commitment of the Superintendence of the Securities Market (SIMV) with the Meta 2036 Plan, which seeks to double the national GDP. In that same line of innovation, he said that new financial instruments work that respond to the needs of the market, citing as an example the crowdfunding regulation, prepared next to the World Bank and currently in public consultation.

He said that the transformation process also includes a technological modernization, with the adoption of artificial intelligence and blockchain to strengthen risk -based supervision.

Bournigal Read concluded his words with a call to look at the potential, stability and the will for transformation that today defines the Dominican Republic.
