Guatemalan business group announced an investment of US$ 15 million in a paint plant, located in Ypané

The directors of Grupo Solid de Guatemala announced at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) the decision to invest US$ 15 million in a paint plant located in Ypané, Central Department, after a meeting with Minister Luis Alberto Castiglioni and the vice minister of the Import and Export Network (REDIEX), Estefanía Laterza.

At the end of the meeting, the directors of the Solid Group, Axel Fuentes and Brenda de Spiegeler, indicated that they spoke with the aforementioned MIC authorities about the decision to install in Paraguay the most modern and technological paint manufacturing plant in Paraguay, located in the Ypané area, and which will be marketed under the “Corona” brand. The plant, which produces products of the same line in the country, was acquired with the aim of starting the production of paints for the southern region of America.

The country manager of Grupo Solid, Brenda de Spiegeler, indicated that she works for “Puras Pinturas Paraguayas”, of Grupo Solid de Guatemala, considered the largest paint company in Central America. “We are estimating that the amount of the investment will be 15 million dollars for the next three years, in the paint business, with the plant that we recently acquired in Ypané, which has great growth potential and the investment is precisely to reach that potential that you have,” he said.

The directive of the important business group explained that initially, the production will be destined for internal consumption; however, they also target exports, taking into account that Paraguay has an ideal geographical location for exports. He also mentioned that they are currently giving labor to 31 employees in the company, who were already operating in the industry that was acquired by Grupo Solid. “We continue to work with the employees who were already operating in the company we acquired. We hope that in about three more months, we will have about 100 employees, and over the course of a year we will reach 150. Puras Pinturas Paraguayas will be installed with the Corona paint brand, and we will be launching it next Wednesday, March 16, at the Talleyrand Costanera Complex. Barrail,” he added.

Likewise, the South Commercial Vice President of the Solid Group, Axel Fuentes, commented that the meeting with Minister Castiglioni was an approach to the institution, at the same time, to put itself under orders.

“We are the second Guatemalan group that has come to invest in Paraguay in the following years. We believe that other markets can be reached from here, and I believe that Paraguay, regardless of exports, is a country with great potential. We are seeing that, that there is a lot of potential in Paraguay, and the opportunities that exist, that is what we like, coming to see how we take advantage of those opportunities”, said the manager.

“Now comes the transformation towards a new brand that we are going to launch on the market, and we are definitely coming to expand production, we are coming to produce more, given the opportunities that we are finding in the different niches in Paraguay. On the day of the launch they will find out more about us”, added the director of the Guatemalan group.
