The Attorney General of the Republic, Tareck William Saab, assured that his office has carried out 1,104 investigations and 1,233 actions regarding cases corresponding to the violent acts perpetrated by the so-called extreme right-wing commanders, to attack democracy in the country. country after the presidential elections on July 28.
Regarding the evidence of the commission of crimes during the aforementioned events, he indicated that the corresponding expertise has been carried out on approximately 300 videos, some of which show the criminal actions of far-right actors, such as the murder of first sergeant, José Antonio Torres. Blanca, from the Bolivarian National Guard, who was shot in the neck during the acts of violence in the city of Maracay, said the prosecutor.
“Those who killed, those who injured, those who burned are not political prisoners, for example the case of the murder of first sergeant, José Antonio Torres, none of the NGOs that are hunting, in detention centers, for people to make them sign, almost by force, a document and then make them understand that they are doing work when they are not doing it, because none of the freedoms that have been granted have anything to do with these organizations,” said the Prosecutor.
Likewise, among other cases, he recalled the murder of Mayauri Silva, who was a spokesperson for a UBCH in Turmero, Aragua state, who “was murdered, was persecuted, and on August 3 at night, was intercepted by a subject who shot her.” three times, and then fled on a motorcycle with the help of two other men. This case is not mentioned in the lists of any NGO, and of this self-proclaimed mercenary mission to determine the facts.”
He explained that the victim was sent to be murdered by a subject identified as “Fernando Venancio Martínez, a mercenary.”
He recalled that the numbers of people killed, injured and property affected after the acts committed, after July 28, by the so-called “comanditos.” “There were 28 people killed, 195 people injured and 486 property affected,” Saab said.
He pointed out that since last November 20, when the Committee for Justice for the Victims of July 2024 was announced, to date there have been at least “20,000 direct and indirect victims, including the injured and relatives of people who lost their lives,” he said.
Disinformation campaign
Given this, he reaffirmed that the prosecutor’s office will continue working so that justice and peace prevail in Venezuela, despite the brutal disinformation campaigns to “wash the face” of terrorist groups.
Likewise, this Monday he reiterated his rejection of the campaign that the national and international extreme right maintains against Venezuela, making it believe that those who have committed crimes are political prisoners, while ensuring that justice is advancing against those who tried to destabilize the country on the 29th. and last July 30.
Saab also urged us to join forces to make the world aware of the truth of what is happening in Venezuela with the alleged political prisoners, and assured that the case of Venezuela “has no precedents”, since the extreme right has executed a series of plans. such as “the attempted coup d’état, assassination, the use of mercenaries, networks, transnational media, etc.”, to try to achieve their objective.
