A journalistic investigation revealed that María Antonieta Gamarra, head of the Sanitary Surveillance Directorate (Dinavisa), did not include in her sworn declarations the shares she owns in the firm Arifar División Logística SA The company rents a warehouse to pharmaceutical companies that said address must control. In addition, it is also dedicated to the field of consulting and advice on health records.
According to Law 6788 of Dinavisa, the owner of the entity cannot have a direct or indirect link with pharmaceutical companies. Due to this situation, Julio Borba, Minister of Health, opened an investigation by the Ministry’s legal advice, with the aim of clarifying the matter.

Gustavo Irala, director of the legal advice of the Ministry of Health, reported that based on Borba’s guideline, they requested reports from Dinavisa) and the promise of María Antonieta Gamarra, head of the entity, was to send them today Thursday in hours in the afternoon – night (at the close of this edition they were still not sent). These documents will represent Gamarra’s defense or defense of the accusations against her.
Irala affirms that if the documents are sent as promised, the final report should already be finished by tomorrow, Friday. Then they will send it to Minister Borba himself so that he can discuss it with Mario Abdo Benítez, the national president, taking into account that the only one who can appoint or dismiss the head of said address is the president.
The investigation will focus on three aspects; first; yes, the director would be a shareholder of the firm Arifar – Logistics Division SA, which would also be the owner of a property that is rented as a warehouse to pharmaceutical companies. The second is if she has resigned before taking over as director of Dinavisa. The third thing will be to know the health records that this company could have processed during the management of the director, considering that she maintains that they stopped providing these consultancies for years. “We still cannot talk about possible sanctions since we must comply with due process. She has the right to present her defense and her legitimate defense. Once we have the discharge and the documents, we will issue them to the Minister of Health”, she explained.
In the event that Gamarra is found guilty, she must be replaced by the most important official who follows her in the hierarchical order of Dinavisa.
