Investigation for human rights violations: court sets hearing to discuss Piñera's formalization deadline

The 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago set a date to discuss a term for the formalization of the former President of the Republic of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, in the framework of an investigation against him for human rights violations during the social outbreak.

This after a request from the lawyer Luis Mariano Rendón, faced with the fear that Piñera will leave the country after completing his term as head of state.

The jurist argued that there is already evidence that the now citizen Piñera can evade justice, recalling the case of fraud in Banco de Talca.

It should be remembered that in this investigation the former general of the Carabineros, Mario Rozas, is also being investigated for his responsibility in the human rights violations during 18-O.

In this way, the hearing was set for May 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., in building A, floor 3 of the same court.
