Investigation begins on IUGT permits in Caracas

Inicia investigación sobre los permisos del IUGT en Caracas

The sectoral vice president of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Hairannounced the beginning of an investigation into the permits of the University Institute of Management and Technology (IUGT) in the Torre Solano, located in Caracas. “How students were allowed to enter a building without the proper permits for habitability.”

During his speech, Cabello read a letter that highlights a recent statement by Vladimir Petit Medina, who claims that the Petrizzo family owes them one and a half million dollars for improvements made to the institute.

“The Petrizzo family rejects this claim, calling it unfair and baseless, arguing that they have used the building without financial compensation for years,” he said.

In the late 90s, Vladimir Petit Medina and his wife, journalist Nitu Pérez Osuna, proposed renting the Torre Solano to establish the IUGT. According to complaints from the Petrizzo family, both participated in the misappropriation of the building. Despite initial reservations, the family agreed to the lease with the hope of using the property. However, after just three months of payments, the Petits stopped meeting their financial obligations.

Allegations indicate that the Petits used illegal practices to remain in the building without legitimate title, taking advantage of the delays and complexities of the judicial system of the time. Thus, they have occupied the tower for almost three decades without paying more rent, a situation that the owner family considers an usurpation.

Cabello also pointed out that Nitu Pérez Osuna, currently the communications operator of “La Sayona” from Panama, was directly involved in this matter. This case, according to Cabello, illustrates how in the “Fourth Republic” certain practices allowed individuals to take advantage of the system to the detriment of the rights of the legitimate owners.

Finally, he stressed the need to protect the rights of those who, with effort and dedication, contribute to the development of the country, to highlight the injustices committed in this case and the importance of a thorough investigation to clarify the facts.
