In the last hours it emerged that the Third Shift Economic and Complex Crimes prosecutor, Gilberto Rodríguez, decided to close the case against the former Minister of Tourism and Colorado legislator, Germán Cardoso, a process in which he tried to determine whether he had committed crimes when he was in charge of the ministry.

According to what the Director of Communications for the Prosecutor’s Office, Javier Benech, told the press, the case was filed “without prejudice”, a usual process that establishes that, if new indications or evidence appear, it is reopened to resume the investigation.

Rodríguez stated that, although “there may be possible irregularities”, in his opinion, “there are no crimes that warrant criminal charges.”

The complaint was for the purchase of advertising for large sums, between 2020 and 2021. The notorious case ended in the resignation of the then minister, who ran to take his seat as a deputy in which he has parliamentary privileges that offer him immunity.

In parallel, and unrelated, the case in which the hiring of the controversial company is being investigated continues Kirma Services OU by MINTUR leaders from the Cardoso era, Elbio Rodríguez and Daniel Reta.
