INACOOP presented studies on cooperative work with emphasis on the projection of the sector

The National Institutes for Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP), for Cooperativism (INACOOP) and the Uruguayan Confederation of Cooperative Entities (CUDECOOP) presented two studies within the framework of the Cooperative Training Program (PROOCOOP). The head of INACOOP, Martín Fernández, highlighted that the studies on labor relations and public purchases are an input for the projection of the sector.

The presentation was also attended by the director of INEFOP, Marisa Acosta, and the president of CUDECOOP, Alicia Maneiro.

On this occasion, a socio-legal analysis of rulings on labor matters was carried out and a study was presented in relation to cooperatives and public purchases. The investigations are an input that will allow the movement to project the work of the sector, said Fernández.

Regarding labor disputes, the official said that the study allows cooperatives to deal more effectively with situations that arise.

Public procurement, meanwhile, has enabled the development and growth of cooperatives, primarily in food production, he said. The research will allow the reconversion of those state suppliers, who will be able to project themselves into new areas that are subject to public procurement, he added.

He also described the program as “completely successful.” It is a public policy that has allowed more than 1,000 cooperative members and workers to access skills training every year, he said. The tool is a strength for organizations and enables the personal development of those who use it, he said.

He also said that the impact of the initiative is correlated with the growth of the sector in terms of job creation. In this regard, Acosta added that the program allows for improving the available tools and generating opportunities.

PROOCOOP offers technical-professional training linked to cooperativism and promotes learning to strengthen the social economy.
