A 19-year-old man investigated for the crimes of aggravated intentional homicide, to the detriment of two people and attempted homicide against a minor, will remain in provisional detention.
The Specialized Section on Homicide and Femicide of the Colón and Guna Yala Regional Prosecutor’s Office is conducting investigations into an event that occurred on the night of August 24, 2022, in Las Perlas de Pilón, district of Puerto Pilón.
That day, presumably, the defendant together with another person, both in possession of a firearm, detonated José Díaz and Joel Díaz multiple times, who later died. In this same event, a minor was injured with a firearm.
In the hearing before a Court of Guarantees, the Public Prosecutor’s Office managed to legalize the arrest and formulate the accusation against this person, which were admitted due to the possible destruction of evidence, and the danger it represents for the community and relatives of the victim.
The defendant was apprehended on November 23, 2022, through a search procedure in Río Alejandro, when required for the crime Against Life and Personal Integrity.
It should be noted that since August 2022 a person has been provisionally detained for this case.
