Invade student residences of the Universidad Deportiva del Sur

Student residences of the Universidad Deportiva del Sur in the state of Cojedes were invaded at dawn this Saturday by a group of people outside this house of studies, reported the rector Jimny Suárez, who repudiated these actions, which he considers acts of vandalism.

Suárez denounced that this is the second time that they have invaded the spaces of the university so far this year, pointing out that a total of 20 student residences have been dismantled by vandalism groups, also pointing out that “these people have caused serious damage to the infrastructure and State assets, as well as intimidate security personnel and workers from our university,” he said.

He stressed that together with his work team they have made the corresponding complaints in the different State security agencies, both military and police, including even politicians, for which they expect a favorable response to solve this problem that affects the entire university community.

The rector stressed that they remain in defense of this international study house, which has graduated students from more than 27 countries around the world and which has been a fundamental icon for the Cojedes state, asserting that “these acts of vandalism put our students at risk international, today we have students from Mali and Nigeria, in addition to actions like these endangering the peace, tranquility and harmony of the Universidad Deportiva del Sur”, he highlighted.

Suárez called on the competent authorities to accompany them in this fight for the defense of the UDS, the Public Ministry and the human rights defender so that this type of action does not go unpunished. “The spaces of the university must be defended and respected,” the rector concluded.
