The National Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert this Saturday given the possibility of strong storms and heavy rains in a good part of the northern strip of the country.
The alert covers four departments. In Artigas, It affects the towns of Bernabé Rivera, Diego Lamas, Javier de Viana, Paso Campamento, Sequeira and Topador.
In Rivera, includes Amarillo, Arroyo Blanco, Cerrillada, Cerro Pelado, Cerros de la Calera, La Puente, Lagos del Norte, Masoller, Minas de Corrales, Moirones, Paso Ataques, Paso Hospital, Rivera and Tranqueras.
In Jump, the localities included are Fernández and Sarandí del Arapey while in tacuarembó It will be in the Paso del Cerro area.
According to the report, a semi-stationary front is affecting the country and thus generating some particularly strong storms.
The Inumet warned that in stormy areas intense rains could occur in short periods with occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.
