Inumet issued two yellow alerts for strong storms and heavy rain

He Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued this Friday morning two yellow alerts by strong storms and heavy rain.

According to the agency, an “atmospheric disturbance associated with a humid and unstable air mass affects the country.” This may generate storms, some “punctually strong“adds Inumet.

In addition, it maintains that in those storm areas it will be possible to register “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind“.

Both yellow alerts are valid until 08:45 this Friday, when Inumet will update the weather status.

Localities affected by yellow alert in the northwest of the country

Artigas: Colonia Palma.

Paysandú: Chapicuy, Constancia, Lorenzo Geyres, Quebracho, San Félix and Guaviyú Hot Springs.

Jump: Albisu, Arapey, Belén, Campo de Todos, Colonia 18 de Julio, Colonia Itapebí, Constitución, Garibaldi, Itapebí, Salto, San Antonio, Saucedo, Termas del Arapey and Termas del Daymán.

Localities affected by yellow alert in the southeast of the country

Cannelloni: Jaureguiberry, Migues, Montes, San Luis, Soca and Tala.

Florida: Alejandro Gallinal, Casupa, Fray Marcos, Reboledo and San Gabriel.

Lavalleja: Blanes Viale, Colón, Solís Station, Gaetán, Illescas, La Coronilla, Mariscala, Minas, North Polanco, South Polanco, San Francisco de las Sierras, Solís de Mataojo, Villa Serrana and Villa del Rosario.

Maldonado: The entire department.

Rocha: April 19, Arachania, Cabo Polonio, La Paloma, La Pedrera, Puerto de los Botes and Rocha.
