Inumet issued a yellow alert for strong storms: see which locations it affects

On the afternoon of this Tuesday the 7th, the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert for the east of the country for “strong storms”.

The agency highlights that in these areas where there may be storms, they can be recorded “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”.

Also, less than an hour before issuing this weather warning Inumet had issued a notice to the population that the rains would arrive as of this Wednesday 8 February, mainly for the south and east, where they could register punctually strong storms”.

These are the localities where the yellow alert applies:

Florida: Nico Perez.

lavalleja: June 19, Aramendía, Colón, José Batlle y Ordoñez, José Pedro Varela, Mariscala, Pirarajá, Polanco Norte, Polanco Sur, Villa Serrana and Zapicán.

maldonado: Aiguá and Los Talas.

rock: Lascano and Velázquez.

Thirty-three: Ejido de Treinta y Tres, María Albina, Mendizábal, Treinta y Tres, Valentines and Villa Sara.

inumet will continue to monitor the situation and report any changes; the advisory will be updated at 6:00 p.m., according to the statement.
