The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert for “strong storms” for the north (Artigas and Salto) and for the south east (Canelones and Maldonado).
It is an “atmospheric disturbance associated with a humid and unstable air mass affecting the country, generating storms, some punctually strong”, explained the institute.
“In stormy areas, it will be possible to register intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”, Inumet indicated.
The alert began at 4:50 p.m. this Sunday. Y It will be updated before tonight or “with significant changes”according to the institute.
