The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert and another orange by “strong storms” the west and center of the country.
As reported by the agency in a statement, it is a “atmospheric disturbance associated with humid and unstable air mass” that “affects the country” and generates “occasionally strong” storms.
In the affected areas, it is expected “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.”
The alert will be updated at 11:25 a.m.or before significant changes.
Localities affected by the orange alert
Peach: Baygorria, Carlos Reyles, Centenario, Feliciano and Pueblo Centenario.
Flowers: Andresito.
Paysandu: Beisso, Casa Blanca, Farms of Paysandú, Colonia Nuevo Paysandú, Constancia, Esperanza, Guayabos, Guichón, Lorenzo Geyres, Merinos, Orgoroso, Paysandú, Piedras Coloradas, Porvenir, Quebracho and San Félix.
Black river: the whole department.
Tacuarembó: Cuchilla de Peralta, Paso de los Toros and Rincón del Bonete.
Localities affected by the yellow alert
Peach: Aguas Buenas, Blanquillo, Carmen, Peach, La Paloma, Ombúes de Oribe, Town of Álvarez, San Jorge and Santa Bernardina.
Paysandu: Cerro Chato, Chapicuy, Gallinal, Drums and Guaviyú Hot Springs.
Soriano: Mercedes and Villa Soriano.
Tacuarembó: Achar, Cerro Chato, Clara, Curtina, La Hilera, Paso Bonilla, Piedra Sola, San Gregorio de Polanco, Sauce de Batoví and Drums.
