Inumet extended the orange and yellow alerts that apply in the north

He Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) once again updated the orange and yellow alerts in force in some towns in the north of the country due to strong storms and heavy rain.

It is a “Atmospheric disturbance associated with a humid and unstable air mass affects the country, generating storms, some occasionally very strong”, as read on the institute’s website.

The institute warns that “in stormy areas, intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”.

Both alerts have more than 75% chances of being fulfilled, and they will be updated again at 8:30 p.m. or in the event of significant changes.

Locations under orange alert

Rivera: Amarillo, Arroyo Blanco, Cerrillada, Cerro Pelado, Cerros de la Calera, La Puente, Lagos del Norte, Las Flores, Masoller, Minas de Corrales, Moirones, Paso Ataques, Paso Hospital, Rivera, Tranqueras and Vichadero.

Leap: Fernández, Quintana and Sarandí de Arapey.

tacuarembó: Iporá Spa, La Pedrera, Paso del Cerro and Tacuarembó.

Locations under yellow alert

Artigas: Artigas, Javier de Viana, Paso Campamento and Sequeira.

long hill: Aceguá and Isidoro Noblia.

paysandu: Drums.

Leap: Biassini, Cayetano, Lluveras and Migliaro.

tacuarembó: Ansina, Arerungua, Pueblo de Arriba, Pueblo de Barro, Punta de Carretera, Sauce de Batoví and Tambores.
