The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) updated this Monday a yellow alert before the possibility of strong storms in a strip that goes from the northwest to the southeast of the country. The agency’s report speaks of an atmospheric disturbance associated with a humid and unstable air mass, which could lead to the occurrence of intense rains in short periods of time, along with an occasional fall of hail, electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.
The alert applies to the towns of Esperanza and Tupambaé (Cerro Largo), Aguas Buenas, Baygorria, Blanquillo, Carlos Reyles, Carmen, Centenario, La Paloma, Las Palmas, Ombúes de Oribe, Pueblo Centenario, Pueblo de Álvarez and Rosell y Rius (Durazno), Capilla del Sauce, Cerro Chato and Nico Pérez (Florida), Illescas, José Batlle y Ordoñez, José Pedro Varela, Polanco Norte, Polanco Sur and Zapicán (Lavalleja), Paso de los Toros, Rincón del Bonete and San Gregorio de Polanco (Tacuarembó), also Cerro Chato, Maria Albina, Santa Clara de Olimar and Valentines (Thirty-Three).
Another similar alert was issued by Inumet on Monday night, also by strong storms. In this case, it includes the localities of Artigas, Baltasar Brum, Bella Unión, Bernabé Rivera, Cainsa, Colonia Palma, Coronado, Diego Lamas, Franquia, Javier de Viana, Mones Quintela, Paso Campamento, Gates de ierro and Campodónico, Santa Rosa del Cuareim, Sequeira, Tomás Gomensoro and Topador , all located in Artigas. Also for Arapey, Biassini, Cayetano, Cerro de Vera, Colonia Itapebí, Fernández, Lluveras, Migliaro, Puntas de Valentín, Quintana, Rincón de Valentín, Sarandí de Arapey, Saucedo and Termas del Arapey, localities belonging to the department of Salto.
The Inumet also forecast for this Tuesday a heat wave, with minimum or higher temperatures than 21 ° and maximum temperatures that could exceed 35 °, due to the presence of a warm air mass.
The alert, in this case, applies to the entire territory of the departments of Artigas, Paysandú, Río Negro and Salto.
