Intrant announces preventive measures for Christmas and New Year

Santo Domingo.- Prior to the massive displacements throughout the national territory due to the holiday of Christmas and New Yearthe National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intranet) joins the 2022 “Conciencia por la Vida” operation, in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center (COE), with a view to reducing injuries and deaths from traffic accidents.

The executive director of Intrant, Hugo Beras, called on drivers and conductors to verify the condition of the vehicles before traveling to the interior of the country, at the same time he asked not to exceed speed limits, respect traffic signs and not ingest alcoholic beverages while driving, as established in Law 63-17.

“We want to ask the Dominican population to be prudent while driving, so that these Christmas and New Year days do not become a lament for families. President Luis Abinader wants them to return safely to their homes and we, from Intrant, are giving the necessary support to the population in this regard,” Beras said.

The Christmas and New Year operation “Awareness for Life” 2022 includes a series of awareness talks and a visual technical review of public passenger transport vehicles at various interurban public passenger transport stops in favor of road safety for road users. the South, North, East and West Region of the country

The vehicle visual inspection at bus terminals began on Wednesday the 19th and will run until Saturday the 24th, while for the New Year festivities, the inspection process will be from the 28th to the 31st of the current month.

The visual inspection, to evaluate the conditions of the vehicles and drivers that offer interurban transport service, will be carried out at the Haina stop, located at kilometer 12 of the 30 de Mayo Highway; Paintings, in the Isabel Aguiar with Prolongation February 27; in the North Terminal, at kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway, as well as in the Caribe Tours bus terminal.

Also the stops in Villa Mella, Mamá Tingó Metro Station and bus stop Monte Plata, Máximo Gómez, San Juan de la Maguana, San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, La Vega, Nagua, La Romana, San Francisco de Macorís and La Altagracia, among other stops.

The awareness talks on road safety are offered to motorcyclists, motoconchos and sectors that are dedicated to public and private passenger transport, basic, secondary and university students, are coordinated by the National School of Road Education (ENEVIAL) and the Intrant Road Safety Directorate and the accompaniment of Pernod Ricard.

It is recalled that, as part of the security measures adopted by the Intrant on the Christmas and New Year holidays, the ban on the movement of cargo transportation throughout the national territory was announced in November, including permits granted by the pilot plan for the Restricted Access Zone (ZAR).

The Intrant recalled that from this Friday, December 23 at 06:00 in the morning, and until Monday 26, at 05:00 in the morning, it is prohibited through the circulation of cargo vehicles on the roads of the territory national, a measure that will be applied for the New Year festivities that begin on Friday, December 30, 2022, starting at 06:00 in the morning.
