The first incident occurred on September 12, 2024. A private car was dragged by a convoy of the Interoceanic Train, when it crossed the railway line, which caused injuries to two people.
The Versa-type vehicle was on the roads that divide the municipalities of Oteapan with Chinameca. The driver did not notice the train, so his car was hit and dragged more than 20 meters. The unit was partially destroyed.
He June 25, 2025 another accident was recorded. The Train collided with a public transportation unit in the municipality of Salto de Agua, Chiapas.
Witnesses pointed out on that occasion that despite the train’s audible warnings, the public transport driver decided to cross, which caused the crash. There were no passengers in this white Urvan van, only the driver, who was unharmed.
After the incident, the Train continued its journey and local residents helped the driver move the vehicle to the official public transport stop.
July 10, 2025a train collided with a trailer in Macuspana, Tabasco, near the Pino Suárez station, damaging the locomotive. The balance was white, but the incident showed failures at high-risk road crossings.
“Fortunately, there are no reports of people with serious injuries or loss of human life to regret,” the Navy said on that occasion.
This accident occurred when the trailer driver tried to overtake the Train. Although the front of the locomotive was damaged by this impact, it did not derail.
Two weeks later another crash occurred. This was the July 27, 2025when the Interoceanic Train ran over a car and dragged it a few meters, which caused the injury of two people – an adult woman and a minor – who were taken to a hospital.
The incident occurred when the taxi driver was crossing the Abraham Zabludovsky railway track in the Santa Rosa neighborhood, in the same Tabasco municipality, and without hearing the alert from the locomotive. The vehicle was transporting three people, who were heading to an airport. There were no injuries.
Another incident occurred a few days ago, the December 20, 2025 on the FA Line, between Coatzacoalcos and Pakal-Na, Chiapas, when a train with 148 passengers collided with a pipe carrying asphalt.
This pipe tried to beat the crossing to the Train, but due to the speed at which the second one was going, the impact occurred and the driver of the cargo vehicle was injured, for which he was taken to the hospital for fractures.
That time, the crash – at kilometer 174, where the Cardona Station is located – caused a train derailment, so the section was temporarily closed and the passengers were evacuated and transferred to the municipality of Huimanguillo, Tabasco.
These events precede the derailment of this December 28 from 2025 which left 13 dead and 98 injured. This accident occurred near the town of Nizanda, in the Oaxaca region.
