Internet plan proposal approved for Supérate beneficiaries

The Senate of the Republic approved a resolution requesting President Luis Abinader to include a basic internet plan in households favored with the social assistance program, Supérate.

The resolution came from Senator Cristóbal Castillo, from Hato Mayor province. The resolution is based on compliance with article 49.1 of the Constitution. “Everyone has the right to information. It is necessary for the population to have access to the Internet, given its usefulness for educational and labor purposes. (Internet) is a means to acquire knowledge and promote communication.

Why a basic internet plan?

He explains that this basic internet plan will help people and boost communication. Also, to have better access to technology as well as knowledge.

«Add basic internet to households benefiting from the Supérate card. It also contributes to people’s access to this service and promotes communication. It also optimizes access to technology and knowledge.”

It also reiterates how the benefits of the network “that frees the individual from geographical restrictions and unites people around new communities of interest. This boosts their sense of identity, develops education, teaching and optimizes democracy”.

The resolution will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies for its knowledge and approval.
