The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, pointed out that his intention to internationalize the state airline Satena in an effort to industrialization of the country by the defense sector.

“We have not held a meeting in the Defense sector on how to expand its productive capacity, to mark out an industrialization process in Colombia, as has been done in other countries (…) Is it possible that the defense sector can mark an industrialization sector in Colombia? It is an issue that we have begun to discuss that involves industry within the sector, we have touched on two issues: shipbuilding and promoting Satena as an international aviation company, which has never been done before”he pointed Gustavo Petro during an official address.

This approach coincides with the information that has been handled about this company being the one to carry out the commercial exploitation of the Bogotá-Caracas air routewhich is currently without an operator.
It was learned that this state company is already analyzing what would be the route to cross the binational skies, taking into account that it must make a stopover due to its operational capacity. A brief stop in Cúcuta or Arauca is contemplated on the flight between both capitals.
On the other hand, Petro appointed other officials yesterday, among them, the director of Migration Colombia.
