The Bicentennial International Seminar of the creation of Bolivia 1825-2025 began this Monday with the participation of intellectuals, researchers and social science professionals to discuss this independence achievement.
He event It will be held until next August 6 in the spaces of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Romulo Gallegos (CELARG), organized by the Presidential Commission for the Commemoration of the Bicentennial.
The president of Celarg, Pedro Calzadilla, express That Venezuela and Bolivia are twinned, and that the birth of this nation meant “the mark of a time, of a fundamental moment.”
He recalled part of the circumstances in which Bolivia was born, with the empires coaligated against the independence of America, applying blocking, sabotage and persecution systems against the whole free world that arose at that time. “It looks like today, all coaligated empires to give to those who dare in this continent to speak in their own voice and without ties,” said Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
«Only the courage of the Liberator, the strength of a people and the unity, made it possible for independence to be maintained. Today we remember it, 200 years later this international seminar, where we have summoned researchers, researchers of historical subject, specialists in different areas, we meet today, again, to examine the lessons and to enter for the present the lessons that come to us from the past, ”he said.
Venezuela is at the forefront of the fight against empires
Calzadilla added that Venezuela is at the forefront, marking the course of how to fight empires. «You cannot open the doors of the story with brittle legs, with accommodative wills or with a spirit that allows the principles to be translated. Bolívar assumed the very expensive cost, in lives and resources, which meant being free and independent, but time proved him and recognized his effort, ”he reiterated.
In addition, he said that today Venezuela has also faced the difficulties presented after having decided to be free in 1999, and that with strength, courage and unity he has come forward in the fight against fascism and empires.
Brotherhood history between Venezuela and Bolivia
The Ambassador of Bolivia in Venezuela, Sebastián Michel, highlighted the relevance of this historical fact for his country and recalled part of the achievements made by Simón Bolívar during his liberating campaign.
“There we are Bolivia turning 200 years and proud, happy (…) we have never had it easy, we have always had to fight, get out of conflicts, wars, losses, but there we continue with identity, with force, wanting to exist and give our people the best they deserve,” he said.
He also highlighted the brotherhood ties that characterize Bolivia and Venezuela, based on various circumstances. “We have met and we have met, we have founded us defeating the empire, the empires that want to take the wealth, who want to send to do, that are tyrants, that they want to invade, that they want to impose their economy, their religion, their military force,” he said.
Michel added that the Latin American countries were founded independent from the empires, being by nature anti -imperialists, «and that is why we are very sovereign countries. I think Bolivia and Venezuela, among all the countries of Latin America, are the ones that most accentuate that sovereign spirit.
The seminar has more than 30 national and international speakers from countries such as Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Cuba and Bolivia, who will present their research, approaches and reflections on the independence of Bolivia.
