Panamanian authorities signed an inter-institutional agreement for the constitution of the Inter-institutional Technical Committee of Central Authorities and Entities Related to the Management of Requests for International Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters.
The Ministry of Government, the Supreme Court of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Ministry were responsible for the creation of this document, in order to promote the improvement and efficiency of the procedures for handling requests for international legal assistance. in criminal matters in the Republic of Panama.
The Minister of Government, Janaina Tewaney, said that there are many benefits that are obtained with this firm, which creates a technical committee that opens the way for coordination spaces that develop a mechanism or internal regulations and optimize procedures with the help of the technology so that they are much more expeditious and effective. “Thus emulating the best practices of modern states in matters of international judicial cooperation and coordination,” he explained.
Said agreement establishes the protocols for the timely and updated exchange of statistics, formats or information content, to collect and analyze the exchange data, for the monitoring, evaluation of policy, development of indicators and development of the activities programmed by the Committee.
