Today the IV International Congress of Medical Oncology began in Asunción, the event will bring together renowned medical specialists from Latin America and Spain.
The congress that began today at the Paseo La Galería Events Centerwill run until November 18 and the sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Dr. Miguel Agüero, president of the Paraguayan Society of Medical Oncologyexplained that the central theme of the congress is the multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment.
Among the speakers will be renowned professionals from Spain, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay.
The topics that will be discussed during the congress, stand out “Genetics and Cancer in Women” and the impact of Olaparib on the overall survival of ovarian cancer. Both topics, which will be of general interest as they are highly demanded cancer treatments worldwide, will be addressed by Dr. Florencia Perazzo.

Dr. Claudio Martin, will be in charge of speaking on Neoadjuvant and Adjuvant, which consist of the treatment that is carried out before and after surgery, respectively. He will also speak about lung cancer at a symposium, which will specifically address the application of durmalumab in patients.
“We chose the most frequent topics in the oncology branch, such as breast, gynecological, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, lung and soft tissue tumors,” he explained. Dr. Agüero, adding that new findings in the area of medical research will also be shared.
