Interior and Police receive 215 firearms delivered by the Public Ministry

Bonao, Monsignor Nouel.–The Ministry of the Interior and Police (MIP) received 215 firearms seized by the Public Ministry of La Vega and Monsignor Nouel, in operations against organized crime. There are 179 pistols, 19 revolvers and 16 shotguns.

The download is part of the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy My Safe Countrywhich is executed by the MIP with the support of other state entities.

The new batch was received by the minister Jesús Vásquez Martínez, in an act in the events hall of the San Antonio de Bonao Cooperative, with the presence of the provincial governor, Raquel Jiménez; the deputy director of the National Police, Julio César Betances Hernández; Colonel Orlando Báez Severino, Regional Director Cibao Sur of the order body; the prosecutor of Monsignor Nouel, Joel López, and the mayor of Bonao, Eberto Antonio Núñez.

They were delivered by López, who said that these weapons were in the hands of people illegally and that their seizure represents a great blow to organized crime.

He indicated that the confiscation has had a great impact and constitutes a step forward in the fight against crimes in the two provinces, which in recent years have registered a significant reduction in violent actions.

Vásquez Martínez gave a guarantee that these weapons will not be used again to attack, that he is satisfied with the effort to remove them from the streets and recalled that this is everyone’s job to contribute to having a country free of crime.

“The State is going to be served, we have been doing that in the last two years. The results are beginning to be seen and will be permanent in favor of our society. ”, He expressed.

The package received adds to the 282 delivered last Friday by the Public Ministry of San Cristóbal, for a total of 497.

The minister was accompanied by the Vice Ministers of Arms, Aníbal Amparo; from Citizen Coexistence, Fernando Nolberto Brito; Internal Security, Jesús Féliz Jimenez; of Preventive Security in the Provincial Governments, Ángela Jáquez, and the director of Registration and Control of Weapons, Sterling Pérez.
