The acting president of the National Congress, Senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (PTB-PB), has called a meeting for tomorrow (9), at 10 am, to discuss the next steps of Parliament after the invasion of the headquarters of the Three Powers by radicals who ask for the annulment of the last presidential elections.
The meeting will take place at the official residence of the President of the Senate. Veneziano chairs Congress on an interim basis during the parliamentary recess. The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, will return to Brasília tomorrow at the end of the afternoon.
At the meeting, the parliamentarians will assess whether it will be necessary for Congress to approve the decree to intervene in public security in the Federal District, signed this Sunday (8) by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In 2018, parliamentarians had to approve the intervention in public security in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
At that moment, the National Congress turned off electricity and water to encourage the extremists to leave and prevent short circuits that could cause fires inside the building. At the Planalto Palace, experts begin to enter the building to assess the damage.
