The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) decided to accept the request for a precautionary measure presented by Colonel PNP Harvey Colchado Huamaníwho asked that the Peruvian State guarantee his personal security against possible reprisals from the Executive Branch.
The former head of the DIVIAC alleged in his request that he and 800 other agents are threatened with being discharged from the National Police (PNP) in retaliation for their participation in corruption investigations that implicate the leadership of the Government, including the president. Dina Boluarte.
Colchado explained that the reprisals would be due to his role as former head of the DIVIAC, highlighting the judicial raid of the presidential residence, carried out as part of the proceedings in the ‘Rolexgate’ case. The colonel maintains that these actions by the Executive seek to weaken his work and deter future similar procedures.
The colonel denounces that, after refusing to accept alleged “undue advantages” offered by people close to the Government, the process for his dismissal from the PNP began.
It should be noted that the investigations led by Colchado and his team covered cases such as Lava Jato and Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto, as well as actions against former presidents such as Ollanta Humala and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
One of Colchado’s last public appearances was during the truckers’ strike, the colonel was assigned to guard a bridge in San Isidro last October.
