The Municipality of Montevideo will collaborate with the National Football Club to strengthen social actions in the community near Los Céspedes. With this objective, both institutions signed a cooperation agreement on Friday, August 19, at the club’s facilities.
Educational, sports, recreational and health promotion activities are planned in Los Céspedes. The sports complex located at 481 Berges road and Instructions avenue, where the main squad and other club divisions train, is the area of influence encompassing the Manga, Puntas de Manga and Valle Edén neighborhoods.
The agreement was signed by the mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse; the president of Nacional, José Fuentes; and the general secretary of the club, Pablo Durán.
Works together
These proposals will cover adolescents who are taking the Basic Vocational Training (FPB) course, which since 2021 has been developed by the Universidad del Trabajo on the tricolor site. It will also reach various population groups that are the object of the social policies of the community in the area.
As a first action, the mobile unit of the Cocina Uruguay food education program was installed in Los Céspedes. A theoretical-practical course on delicious, nutritious and economical cooking is offered there, which also includes proper handling of food.
The Intendancy also brought its mobile polyclinic, to facilitate the management of the health card of the FPB students. The student group has also been linked to the Giraldez polyclinic, to give continuity to health care.
As part of the Greener Montevideo strategy developed by the Intendancy, the cooperation will cover care for the environment and classification of waste in the club’s facilities.
Work is being done on the planning so that different population groups linked to the social policies of the commune can carry out activities in the sports city.
