CAMCEL Palliative Care Unit celebrated 2 years of its creation
The CAMCEL Medical Cooperative underlined the importance of this date with an Academic Day that was held at the Cultural Center and which brought together more than 100 people, including health professionals, authorities and special guests.
At the opening ceremony was the Mayor of Cerro Largo, the current President of the Board of Directors of the institution and also the person who presided over them at the time of the creation of this Unit.
Dr. Gabriela Píriz from the Palliative Care Programmatic Area of the MSP and Dr. Carolina Chapper from the Uruguayan Society of Medicine and Palliative Care arrived in Melo to be part of the event.
The Departmental Director of Health of Cerro Largo, Liliana Denis, was also present.
SERVICE EXTENDS TO RÍO BRANCO
“CAMCEL has challenges. In medicine the word equity is very difficult to achieve and without a doubt the great challenges we have is trying to be closer to that word with our partners who are within the department” expressed the Dr. Felipe Ricagni.
“That is why, and taking advantage of the fact that Mayor Morel is from Rio Branco, that starting in November we will have the possibility of having a palliative care service integrated into what is palliative care in Melo with colleagues dedicated exclusively to the care of palliative patients.” announced the President of CAMCEL.
“Río Branco had the same path as Melo: shared tasks, shared operations, but starting in November we wanted to provide all our members with the same quality of care” he remarked.
“They will be fully integrated into Melo’s palliative care team” he insisted. “We have as a challenge everything that would be Route 7, everything that would be Route 8 to the north” he pointed out. “It is a great challenge that we have for all those affiliates” he added.
“With the push of all our colleagues, without a doubt we will achieve development that meets the needs of these neighbors.” said Dr. Ricagni.
NOT ONLY STREETS AND LIGHTING, ALSO HEALTH
“Day by day we see that we are in good hands, that the health of the department is in good hands” express Christian Morel.
“At this very special moment, what has been established in the public debate, especially in the political debate, which is the issue linked to the Euthanasia Law, something that has generated a very important sensitivity in people, let’s talk about investing in palliative care, let’s talk about there being a great commitment on the part of the Central Government and that there is a great commitment on the part of the mutualists and especially this mutualist that I love so much, that I defend so much and for the “I made so much effort from day 1 so that we would not let the Municipality miss anything.” The Mayor of Cerro Largo pointed out.
“The Municipality of Cerro Largo will be up to the task and will make the effort that you, who are the ones who know, deem appropriate. From the Government of Cerro Largo, from myself, I want to emphasize that the function is not only to make streets, install lighting and have beautiful public spaces, but we are also convinced that the health part must play an important role” projection.
