He Tobacco Institute of the Dominican Republic (Intabaco) and the ISA University They started a program academic training and practice on the cultivation and curing of tobacco, with the aim of strengthening the technical knowledge of future professionals in the agricultural sector.
According to a press release, the project began with the planting of the T-150 and T-13 tobacco varieties in the experimental field of the ISA Universitywhere a curing house that will support the training and technical processes of the students.
The director of Intabaco, Ivan Hernandez highlighted the entity’s interest in supporting the academy for the training of new agricultural professionals, so that they know modern techniques of tobacco cultivation and, in the future, can contribute their knowledge to an industry that is constantly growing in the country.

Both highlighted that the tobacco industry Dominican Republic generates more than 1,340 million dollars annually in exports, creates around 120,000 jobs direct and indirect – of which 40,000 correspond to free zones – and positions the Dominican Republic as a world leader in the production of premium tobacco.
