Santo Domingo.- The president of the Duartiano Institute, Wilson Gómez Ramírez, clarified that he is not calling for a supposed march for next February 27 as it appears on the social network account “Patriotic March RD”, on behalf of that patriotic entity, and urged to reject said call because it does not correspond to the guidelines and the calendar established by this organization.
He stated that for this Monday the only activities programmed by the Duartiano Institute, in commemoration of the 179th anniversary of national independence and the day of the flag, are the solemn act of hoisting the national flag, at the Altar de la Patria, at 8:00 in the morning, and the deposit of a floral offering before the ashes of the founders of the Republic, 9:00 in the morning.
Gómez Ramírez began, which is also scheduled at 8:30 p.m., in the Carlos Piantini hall of the National Theater, the concert “My music is my flag”, in whose activity the merengue will be raised with the performances of the interpreters of this popular and contagious rhythm, Sergio Vargas, Miriam Cruz, Jandy Ventura (El Legado) and Fefita la Grande; while bachata will be represented by Luis Miguel del Amargue.
Speaking at a meeting with other executives, the president of the Duartiano Institute explained that these musical expressions are authentic to our country and were declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) as intangible heritage of humanity, given its importance in the world of music.
He urged citizens to display the national flag in front of the houses as a manifestation of patriotic fervor, recognition and tribute to the work and example of Los Trinitarios and their leader Juan Pablo Duarte y Díez.
About the Trafficking Law projects
The president of the Duartiano Institute said that the comprehensive bills on Human Trafficking, Exploitation or Smuggling of Migrants, and the one that creates the Comprehensive System for the Prevention, Care, Punishment and Eradication of Violence against Women, are proof that it is pursued by all means to continue stimulating the massive incursion of the illegal and undocumented exodus in the Dominican territory.
“These pieces of legislation agree that they generously and lightly recognize rights in favor of irregular migrants, the simple allegation of being victims of the crimes that are intended to be punished and prevented is enough, to be untouchable, and they intend to place heavy burdens and obligations on the shoulders of various public institutions and private companies, many of which would pass the burden on to the consumer people,” he said.
It added that while the draft Comprehensive Law on Trafficking in Persons, Exploitation or Smuggling of Migrants establishes in its article 63 that, claiming to be a victim, regular stay in the country can be managed by carrying out the necessary procedures to obtain migratory permits, including the granting of residence in the country; being able, in addition, to obtain a permit to work in the country.
He pointed out that in the congress piece that refers to the protection of victims of gender violence, he seeks that private and social entities and people who have the responsibility to contribute to establish shelters for illegal migrant women and that the General Directorate of Migration cannot deport them when they report gender violence or require care.
Gómez Ramírez made a call to all officials, especially congressmen from all political parties or groups, to assume with the greatest integrity the most resolute and intransigent homeland defense, in moments as difficult as those currently facing the Dominican nation.
