Families who wish to take a paternity test in São Paulo will be able to attend another edition of the Find Your Father Here campaign, promoted by the Institute of Social Medicine and Criminology (Imesc) and the Public Ministry. The joint effort will take place this Wednesday (14), between 7am and 4pm, at the Imesc headquarters, at Rua Barra Funda, 824, in the Barra Funda region, in the center of São Paulo.
The exam is free and families will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. The purpose of the action is to facilitate the process of including paternity in the documents of people who have not yet been legally recognized.
How will it be
To participate in the action, it will be necessary that all those involved – child, mother and presumed father – agree to carry out the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) test and attend the collection site together. It will also be necessary to present an original document with a photo and birth certificate, in the case of children and adolescents. No special preparation is required for collection.
If the alleged father does not appear, the mother will be able to perform the service and continue the paternity process with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. If the presumed father has already died, first-degree relatives such as fathers, brothers (on the father and mother’s side) and his children (with their respective mothers) may undergo blood collection.
This will be the fourth joint effort carried out by Imesc this year. In the other three, there were 76 attendances.
